Supreme Court Delays Ruling on BP's Writ Request

By David Schexnaydre, Esq.

Although the U.S. Supreme Court conferenced BP's Application for Writ of Certiorari on Friday, November 14, 2014, the Court neither granted writs nor denied them. Such inaction generally means the case will be relisted for conference on another date. This is not good news for claimants because having the case relisted means someone at the Court is looking at the case closely.  Moreover, according to the staff over at SCOTUSBlog.com, for almost all of this calendar year, the Court has not granted review without first relisting the case at least once.

UPDATE:  The case has been reassigned for conference on November 25, so we should find out on November 26 whether the Court grants or denies writs.
